LenSx® Laser System

LenSx® Laser System

A new era in cataract surgery is now here with the LenSx® bladeless femtosecond laser, a technological breakthrough in cataract surgery. Cataract surgery, the most common surgical procedure in the United States, is one of the safest and most successful operations today. The LenSx® laser system takes cataract surgery to new heights by adding higher levels of precision and accuracy to the surgery, creating a truly customized cataract surgery. The FDA-approved LenSx® laser system is based on the same femtosecond technology that has been used in millions of bladeless LASIK procedures. Every human eye is slightly different in size, curvature of the cornea, depth, and other factors. The LenSx® laser, a bladeless, computer driven laser uses precise real-time high-resolution digital images to map and measure the eye. These measurements are than used to customize the surgery to the exact specifications of your eye, not attainable with traditional cataract surgery. The LenSx® laser system performs several of the most critical steps during the cataract surgery including; micro-incisions into the cornea normally done with a blade, a circular opening into the lens capsule, allowing for precise placement of the intraocular lens, important in achieving accurate outcomes, and softening of the cataract using less energy than traditional surgery. Astigmatism is also corrected with the LenSx® laser during the procedure allowing for better outcomes which increases the likelihood of seeing clearer without glasses. Once it is determined that you will need cataract surgery, your surgeon and surgical counselor will determine if you are a candidate for LenSx® surgery.
